Community Governance Review Update

A message from Telford & Wrekin Council:

A Community Governance Review is a legal process where the Council will consult with those living in the area, and other interested parties, on the most suitable ways of representing local people.

Following the publication of the Terms of Reference, an initial consultation was completed seeking views on current town and parish council arrangements. The findings from this first consultation informed draft proposals for future town and parish arrangements that were considered by the Telford & Wrekin Council’s Boundary Review Committee on 12 May 2025. At this meeting, the Committee agreed the draft proposed arrangements for a second phase of consultation which has now commenced and will close on the 14 July 2025.

Details of these draft proposed changes can be found in the “Information Pack” which can be found on the Telford & Wrekin website.

In this second consultation, Telford & Wrekin are seeking views on:

- the proposed arrangements for Town and Parish Councils which currently include plans to merge or dissolve some existing Town and Parish Councils;

- the warding arrangements for the proposed Town and Parish Councils;

- the number of councillors proposed in respect of Town and Parish Councils;
- the number of councillors proposed in respect of each ward;
- the proposed name of any Town and Parish Council.

The findings from this second consultation will be used to inform the final decision of the (Telford & Wrekin Council) Boundary Review Committee at the end of July as to the town and parish council arrangements for the borough that will take effect from the 6 May 2027.
